Level sensors & supervision – SPGE & SBGE Belgium
Case study of storm overflow equipment:
CONTEXT :
Obtaining several European calls for tender for the equipment of more than 450 storm overflows with SPGE (Wallonia) and 3000 in six years for the rest of Belgium (SBGE/AQUAFIN).
- Meeting European regulatory obligations decided by Belgium
- Instrumentation project to qualify storm overflows according to their sizes
- Variety of inter-municipalities with different needs
- Extremely complex specifications in the context of a European call for tenders
Our solutions :
An example of a simple installation of innovative equipment for storm overflow.
Solutions based on:
- An ultrasonic water level sensor (LNU06V4), powered by internal battery which triggers a compact water sampler (ISCO 6712) according to the ultrasonic sensor level thresholds
- A velocity sensor (UB-V) connected to an external battery communicates its measurements by radio to the ultrasonic sensor to obtain the flow rate.
- A CSCV3 overflow sensor (discontinued and replaced by the CSV4 OVERFLOW detector) connected to a battery-powered data logger, sending data to the ultrasonic sensor to directly start the water sampler.
- All data are sent to the Ijitrack.com
- Instrumentation based on data signature and remote configuration
- Scalable instrumentation for other applications (rainfall monitoring, water quality, …)
Below are presentations of the equipment installed on the different sites:
Capteurs de niveau ultrason LNU6V4
Wireless sensor, communicating by radio and cellular, multi-applications
(area velocity Flow measurement, storm overflow, pumping stations, physico-chemical probes, rainfall, …)
Overflow detectors
The CSCV3 range of overflow detectors are combined with:
– A PLC for starting/stopping lifting pumps.
– An automatic sampler, a flow meter
– A radar level sensor LNR06V4 or the ultrasonic version LNU06V4
– TOR or Modbus data logger LOG03V4, LOG04V4
